Harry Clifford Morgan, 97, of Prairie City, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A funeral service was Wednesday, July 19 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with burial will at McKeever Cemetery. The son of Frank and Blanche (Briles) Morgan, Harry was born June 13, 1920, on the farm in the Oswalt area, north of Colfax. He married the love of his life, Katy Bolenon June 26, 1943. In 1952, Harry and Katy bought a farm northeast of Bondurant where they raised their family. After retirement, they spent many happy winters in Arizona until Katy’s death in 2000. Harry loved his family, drives in the country, farming, college wrestling, travel, big band music and a good meat and potatoes meal.
He will be missed by his son, John Morgan of Des Moines; daughters, Jean (Mark) Jennings and Marianne (Ken) Free, both of Prairie City; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katy; half-sister, Bertha Hamil; and a son, Jim Morgan.
