Pugel brings success to DMACC

I am writing to support the re-election of Joe Pugel to the DMACC Board of Directors.

I am the President of Keystone Electrical Manufacturing Company, and a member and past chair of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry. In those roles, I have hired DMACC graduates and benefited from other services offered to businesses. I have also seen the value DMACC brings to the business community thought the experiences of other business leaders.

Additionally, I am a current member of the DMACC Board and have worked with Joe Pugel and experienced his leadership and commitment to the success of the college and its continued involvement with industry.

Joe has chaired the DMACC Board since 2003 and has overseen and led the Board during a period of significant growth and expansion of its service to central Iowa. Since 2003, DMACC has grown enrollment 62 percent to 35,488 students; attained the highest bond rating and lowest property tax assessment of any Iowa community college; maintained the lowest tuition and fees of any college and university in the state; created career academies with area high schools around the district, including Newton and Pella; improved articulation with Iowa State, the University of Iowa, UNI and recently a gift of all the Maytag corporate offices in conjunction with the City of Newton; expanded programs in Newton in court reporting and culinary arts; created scholarship programs for FFA students and honor students; saw DMACC ranked by Value Colleges as 10th of the 1,717 two-year programs in the entire United States on “value” and much more.

I do not believe any Iowa community college has experienced more success. Joe has been an instrumental part of that success.

I am asking you to vote for Joe Pugel on Sept. . 12.

Thank you,

Frederick V. Buie
