Mustang volleyball falls to HOIC rival Gilbert

GILBERT — PCM’s volleyball team ran into a strong Gilbert squad on Sept. 19 on the road.

The Tigers defeated the Mustangs in three sets, 25-11-, 25-7, 25-10 during Heart of Iowa Conference play.

Gilbert, which has won nine of its last 10 matches, served up 17 aces in the win.

The Tigers (14-7 overall, 3-0 in the HOIC) were led by freshman Thea Rotto’s 10 kills, senior Bree Richard’s 33 assists and senior Megan Goodhue’s 19 digs.

The Mustangs (8-12, 1-2) have now lost six of their last nine matches.

Senior Regan Olson and junior Maddie Samson each had three kills and freshman Jacki Vos finished with two kills.

The Mustangs had nine kills as a team.

Senior Madison Foster delivered seven assists, senior Olivia Lippman collected 11 digs and junior Avery Stock served up three aces.

Senior Kinsey Phipps had four digs and the Mustangs were 25-of-28 in serves.

The Mustangs played in the Roland-Story tournament on Sept. 25 in Story City.

They hosted Nevada on Sept. 26.

PCM hosts South Hamilton Oct. 2 in Monroe.
