PCM football to host No. 6 Williamsburg in postseason opener

The Class 2A No. 5 PCM football team ended the 2017 regular season with a forfeit victory over Clarke.

During the early morning hours on Oct. 21, the Iowa High School Athletic Association released the playoff brackets in all classes. The Mustangs will host a playoff game for the second straight season.

PCM faces No. 6 Williamsburg at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27. Williamsburg (7-2) received one of the two wild-card berths after losing 42-14 to No. 3 Mount Vernon in its regular-season finale.

Williamsburg was the third-place finisher out of District 5.

Besides the loss to Mount Vernon, the Raiders also dropped a 14-9 game to district runner-up West Liberty.

The Raiders lead 2A with 3,092 rushing yards.

Junior Gage Hazen-Fabor leads 2A individually with 1,850 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. He averages 9.9 yards per carry.
