On Nov. 15 Prairie City and Monroe Elementary fifth grade students went to J.A. BizTown to discover a world of economics. The students’ goal was to run the model city successfully. During preparation for BizTown the students learned how to fill out checks, deposit tickets and check registers. They also learned basic economic concepts and learned how to start a business. At BizTown there were more than 50 different jobs. One of the businesses, the Publishing Center, created and sold around 85 magazines. The students had an excellent time and learned a lot at BizTown.
